This personalized form letter was signed and sent by the Mick himself to a Mr. Mike Saunders in Harrington Park, New Jersey thanking him for joining “Mickey Mantle’s Collector’s Club.” In a type-written letter on Mantle’s own stationary which includes his home address of 5730 Watson Circle, Dallas, Texas, The Mick went on to say: “To be remembered so many years later by collectors, the most ardent fans of all, is something I never dreamed would be possible.” The letter is personalized “Dear Mike” at the top and signed by Mantle in blue ballpoint pen at the bottom. The package also includes a Mickey Mantle Collectors Club “lifetime membership card” #287 and a “Mickey Mantle Items For Sale” price sheet listing available items such as an autographed baseball with holder “Regular Price $25” and “Members Price $17.95” at the 1983 time of the mailing. A Mickey Mantle autographed bat was the high dollar item at the time selling for regular price of $125 and $75 for members. A separate Mickey Mantle Collector’s Club survey sheet asks members to list the 10 “Mickey Mantle Items which they are looking to buy and 10 items they wish to sell.” The original envelope mailed to Mike Saunders is also on Mickey Mantle personalized stationary and carries a .20 postage stamp but no post mark. The entire package represents a simpler time when players and fans corresponded directly with each other and comes with PSA/DNA LOA #T06640.
