During the franchise’s first season in Colorado (after moving from Quebec), the Avalanche won the 1996 Stanley Cup behind the stellar goal tending of Patrick Roy and clutch scoring of winger/center Joe Sakic. For their efforts, the team was awarded these Stanley Cup championship rings. The face of this size 10.75/53 gram 14K gold ring has the capital “A” on a red ruby stone, with the A fitted with real diamonds, all surrounded by “STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS” in raised lettering. One shank has the team name “COLORADO AVALANCHE” with an image of the Stanley Cup, the NHL logo, the scores of each playoff series and the phrase “INAUGURAL SEASON.” The other shank has the name “McLEAN” with “EQ. MGR”, a large single diamond and the phrase “IT’S ALL ABOUT COMMITMENT.” Within the band is the stamped “14K.” LOA form Robert McLean dated and signed 12-5-13, the rings original recipient.
