Super Bowl III hero and Monday Night Football kissing bandit, famous bachelor Playboy Joe Namath was the NFL’s first pop star, hanging out with celebrities and dating models. Namath was even a partner in one of New York City’s first “singles” bars “Bachelors III,” which led to Broadway Joe’s premature retirement from the NFL in June of 1969, when Commissioner Pete Rozelle cited the place as a mobster hangout and told Namath to sell his share of the bar or face suspension which Namath eventually did and rescinded his retirement. Namath signed this Official Wilson Roger Goodell NFL football in thick silver Sharpie on the panel just under the label with his number “12” inscription. The ball is kept in an 8” x 12” rectangular Protech Crystal Case with black base and mirror back and comes with PSA/DNA COA # W70725.
