Simply and eternally referred to as “The Catch,” it remains one of the most memorable plays in NFL history: With just 51 seconds remaining on the clock, the San Francisco 49ers trailed the Dallas Cowboys 27-21 in the 1981 NFC Championship Game, when wide-receiver Dwight Clark leaped high in the air, in the back of the end zone to retrieve a 16-yard pass from Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana. The stunning play sealed the Cowboys doom and created the defining moment of Clark’s nine-year career with the 49ers. This Riddell gold and red San Francisco 49ers replica helmet is signed by Montana and Clark in bold black Sharpie with a “The Catch That Got SF Into SB XVI 1.10.82” inscription and as well as neatly drawn diagram of the play with x’s and o’s finishing with a “TD!” above the 49ers SF logo and between Clark and Montana’s signatures on the helmet; comes with PSA/DNA COA and sticker # W90412 and Joe Montana hologram sticker located on the back of the helmet and is neatly displayed in a Protech Crystal Case Full-Size Helmet Case.
