It looks like Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun crushed a few balls with MLB Authentic (LH 696889) 35-inch black Maple Sam Bat KB1 Rideau Crusher model before it gave way and shattered on an inside pitch. A smattering of ball marks and stitch impressions mark the sweet spot of the barrel between the Sam Bat label and the Select Series logo and model information towards the bat’s deep cupped end. Braun’s number “8” is written in silver Sharpie on the knob end. The bat’s specifics are written inside a rather deep barrel cup: “35, 31.5, 9-9-09, KB1, RB.” The September 9 issue date is just six days before Braun used and broke this bat in a 13-7 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field on September 15, 2009. Braun applied a liberal coating of pine tar to the bat running from the knob almost all the way to the label. The bat is cracked in multiple spots below the label where it appears to have been struck by a pitch on the hands.
