Early in their careers, many young players experiment with many different company’s bats, trying to locate the best for them over the long term. Albert Pujols used many types of bats early on including this Carolina Clubs model. This 33.75 inch, 31.6 ounce maple bat displays heavy use with a long handle crack which has subsequently been slightly repaired. Pujols’ number “5” is on the knob and top cupped barrel, both written in black marker. The barrel has his name “ALBERT PUJOLS” in white block letters with “Pro Model” above. Certainly manufactured specifically for Albert, but according to the LOA, “We (PSA/DNA – Taube) have no record of Carolina Club model bats being used by Pujols during a regular season game.” As such, it is likely this was used during spring training or for BP.
