The 1986 New York Mets were the most dominant team in franchise history posting a 108-54 record and finishing 21.5 games in front of second place Philadelphia. The Mets won a tightly contested six-game NLCS over the Houston Astros with a 7-6 victory in a 16-inning thriller in the final game and defeated the Boston Red Sox in a dramatic seven-game World Series highlighted by Mookie Wilson’s infamous ground ball that slipped through first baseman Bill Buckner’s wickets. Third year starter Dwight Gooden was the ace of the Mets pitching corps, posting a 17-6 record with a 2.84 ERA and was the first pitcher to record more than 200 strikeouts in each of his first three seasons. Six of the 1986 World Series champion Mets signed this size-46 blue and white N.Y. Mets pinstriped Dwight Gooden replica pullover V-neck home jersey in bold blue Sharpie to the right and underneath Gooden’s number 16 on the front including; Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter, first baseman Keith Hernandez (who many feel should be in the Hall of Fame) center fielder Lenny Dykstra, and all-time leader in game appearances (1,252) relief pitcher Jesse Orosco and 194-game winner Dwight Gooden himself. Gooden’s name is stitched in blue and orange tackle twill onto a white name plate across the back above his number 16 with Mets stitched across the front in the same blue and orange tackle twill. Blue and orange piping runs across the shoulders and along the sides of the jersey and a “1962-1986 25th Anniversary” patch is on the left sleeve. A Mitchell and Ness label with “size-46” and “Made in Korea” flag tags are stitched into the inside collar and a Cooperstown Collection manufacturers label with a “1986” strip tag is on the left front tail.; comes with Steiner Sports Memorabilia COA and MLB Authentic hologram # MT 00662030.
