In the middle of his historic team-record 53-home-run 2013 season for the Baltimore Orioles, Chris “Crush” Davis went 2-4, knocking his 35th long ball of the season on the day he used this MLB Authentic (FJ 709753) 35-inch, 33-ounce Louisville Slugger in an 8-5 Orioles victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on July 12th at Oriole Park. According to MLB’s Authentication Program, Davis grounded out to third with this black ash, M356 model, which was splintered at the handle and removed from the game. It does not say if it is the same bat that Davis used when he crushed a homer to deep left field in the bottom of the second but a photo match of Davis’ follow through on the home runs wing reveals that it is indeed the same bat which had obviously not cracked yet. The said crack is undetectable even now and the bat shows great use with solid ball marks and cleat indentations around the barrel. Davis used the same bat when he hit home run #34 against the Texas Rangers the day before. A silver embossed MLB logo and four square symbols are on the opposite side of the barrel from where Davis name and Baltimore Orioles are engraved. The bat’s 07/02/13 issue date and 35.0/33.0 specifications and AA are on the knob end. Davis applied a heavy coat of pine tar near the Louisville Slugger label and appears to have gotten plenty of good whacks from this bat. Possibly photo matched to HR34 and 35.
