New York Yankees sophomore pitcher Mel Stottlemyre certainly earned his first All-Star Game appearance at Metropolitan Stadium in Minneapolis on July 13, 1965 and was well on his way to his first 20-win season posting a 9-5 record in 19 starts before the All-Star break. Stottlemyre pitched six innings without earning a decision in an 8-6 Yankees win in Minnesota just three days earlier and did not participate in the All-Star game but was still issued this 35-inch, 33.9-ounce Hillerich and Bradsby Louisville Slugger model K55 bat which reveals no evidence of game use but is signed by Stottlemyre in bold blue Sharpie with an “All Star Game 1965” inscription between the label and the 1965 All Star Game Stottlemyre Minnesota branding on the barrel; comes with PSA/DNA LOA certification # 1B08433.
