In his rookie season with the New York Yankees, pitcher Mel Stottlemyre compiled a 9-3 record with a 2.06 ERA in 13 starts and took the hill for games two, five and seven of the Yankees losing effort against the Cardinals in the 1964 World Series. Stottlemyre went 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA in the Series and got one hit in eight at bats but it does not appear that he used this 35-inch, 33.8-ounce Hillerich and Bradsby Louisville Slugger model K55 bat which was issued in his name for the Series. This clean un-cracked bat shows no evidence of game use and is signed by Stottlemyre in bold black Sharpie with a “World Series 1964” inscription between the label and the 1964 World Series Stottlemyre New York Yankees branding on the barrel; comes with PSA/DNA LOA certification # 1B08438.
