Although he spent 12 of his 16 big league seasons with the Oakland A's, burly bash brother Mark McGwire was wearing a St. Louis Cardinals cap during the most memorable moments of his career. It was with the Cardinals that McGwire broke Roger Maris’ single-season home run record of 61, reaching the unthinkable number 70 in 1998 and eclipsing the mark again with 65 in 1999. McGwire hit 220 of his 583 career home runs with the Cardinals from 1997-2001 and wore this size 71/2 Authentic Diamond Collection/New Era 59Fifty bright red St. Louis cap sometime between 1998-2000. The cap shows heavy wear with a dark stained inner headband and some sweat stains on the underside of the brim where McGwire’s number 25 is written but smudged. The Cardinals interlocking StL logo is on the front of the cap with a red, white and blue MLB logo on the back of the crown; comes with LOA from noted sports jersey expert Dave Miedema.
