At the height of his brilliant but abbreviated 14-year career Don Mattingly was regarded among the game’s elite hitters from his breakout season of 1984 through the 1980s posting a career-high .352 in 1986, which is the beginning of the labeling period (1986-1989) for this Louisville Slugger model T141 Don Mattingly professional model bat. Mattingly signed this 34-inch, 22.3-ounce, natural finish Ash bat in bold black sharpie with a “#23” inscription by the branding on the barrel. Bat shows heavy game-use with numerous ball marks, stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and cleat dings in great abundance around the barrel’s circumference and towards the label. There is a thick coating of pine tar on the lower end of the handle and a lighter coat higher up towards the label where the bat is slightly cracked. Mattingly’s number 23 is written in black marker on the end of the barrel and over another number on the knob end; comes with PSA/DNA LOA certification #1B08024 and Letter of Grading and Authenticity for the bat rating GU8.
