The St. Louis Cardinals won the 1926 World Series in a fantastic seven game series, culminating when Babe Ruth was thrown out in the 9th inning of Game 7 when attempting to steal second base. This program is from Game 2, when HOFer Grover Cleveland “Pete” Alexander shutdown the vaunted Yankee lineup; limiting Ruth, Gehrig and Co. to two runs on four hits. Ol’ Pete went the distance – no closer or set up men needed. The pre-printed lineups include Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Combs, and Meusel for New York, and Hornsby, Bottomley, Hafey, and Alexander for St. Louis. This large format (9.25 x 11 inch) program features portraits of each participant and exhibits an intact spine, neatly scored scorecard and a very light vertical fold which has been flattened over time. However, the inner two pages are separated from the balance of the pages. Very Good to Excellent condition.
