When a team participates in the World Series its skipper gets to manage his league’s team and assemble a coaching staff in the following season’s All-Star Game. New York Yankees 1998 World Series manager Joe Torre brought pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre with him to the 1999 mid-summer classic. Stottlemyre signed this game worn 1999 button-down pinstriped home jersey with a “Game Used 1999 All Star Game” inscription under the navy blue tackle twill interlocking NY logo on the front of the jersey. Stottlemyre’s number 34 is also in navy blue tackle twill on the back and an “MLB 1999 Boston All-Star Game” patch is on the right sleeve with a black number “5” in honor of the late great “Yankee Clipper” Joe DiMaggio is on the left. Jersey shows some game use with a black smudge on the left sleeve. Russell Athletic/Diamond Collection size-46 manufacturers label with “100% Polyester” flag tag and “Stottlemyre 99” strip tag are attached to the left front tail. Jersey has been PSA/DNA pre-certified and comes with LOAs from Mel Stottlemyre and noted sports jersey expert Dave Miedema.
