The mid to late 1970's Chicago White Sox had a wide variety of uniforms. Who could forget the ill-fated shorts worn in 1976? One trademark was the collared pullover shirts worn by the team in the late 70's. This blue mesh jersey has “CHICAGO” across the front in the old fashioned lettering. Inside the collar is the “Capital Ace 42” manufacturers size and wash tag, with attached ”SET 1 1979” flag tag. Interestingly according to the wash tag, this jersey was “Made in Japan.” The reverse has “MINOSO” across the back with the number “9” below. After his 17 year White Sox career, Minoso played in Mexico then came back for eight at bats at age of 50. Then a year after he wore this coaches jersey, Minoso appeared in two games in 1980 at age 54. LOA from Dave Miedema, noted sports jersey expert.
