One of the most attractive jerseys from this artificial turf, cookie cutter stadium era was the powder blue jersey of the Philadelphia Phillies. This zippered jersey has the “P” on the left breast, with the number “49” opposite, and the “Wilson 44” manufacturers wash tag and blue strip tag with “74 Set 1 44” on the lower front tail. Within the collar is another blue strip tag with the name “Wallace.” The number “49” is also on the back. Phillies maroon and white piping resides on both shoulders and down the sides. All coloring is faded, with the numbers and lettering very worn, with cracking and fraying. The lack of a name plate is one reason why this jersey was very likely recycled to the minor leagues, a common practice in the 1970's. The zipper also appears to have been replaced at some point. Tremendous use on this vintage and popular jersey style. LOA from Dave Miedema, noted sports jersey expert.
