One of the fun aspects of the nearly century old strip cards are the oddities regarding the different subsets within the issues, plus the actual images of the players. This card combines both of these features into one outstanding and interesting Babe Ruth card. The 1921 W516 issue has five different 30 card subsets, with all five containing the same subjects but with different numbering sequences. This Ruth card is intriguing as it pictures the Babe throwing…but throwing right-handed! In reality, all the cards from this subset have reversed images. Sized to 1-1/2” x 2-3/8”, this blank-backed card appears slightly short top to bottom, with irregular cut edges. In addition, there is some light spotting on both sides. Still, these early Ruth strip cards don’t come available very often, and this is one with a colorful appearance, and a card issued during the season from his first World Series appearance with the New York Yankees.
