Upon his arrival in the Bronx, Mark Texiera added his bulk to the New York Yankees’ lineup, leading the AL in home runs with 39. Some of the tools of his trade are available in this lot, which features a custom-made bat and batting gloves. The 34” long twig is stamped on the barrel as made of “Bone-Rubbed Elite Maple,” with wood-toned handle and black barrel. The slugger’s #25 is written in blue marker on the knob, and the tape has been removed from the handle. It’s signed on the barrel in silver Sharpie and shows nice game use, including minor pine tar staining and tackiness, and some clean ball marks on the sweet spot of the barrel. The Nike Diamond Elite batting gloves sport navy palms and gray/navy accents with a white swoosh. Texiera’s number “25” is on a patch stitched to the Velcro wrist fastener. Like the bat, these gloves come with a personal LOA signed by Texiera, however the signature on back of the gloves is badly faded. Oddly, the blue signature is actually more visible on the inside, having soaked through the surface. The gloves show light use; each item has its own separate LOA and bears a hologram from Steiner Sports.
