The 1946 Giants were top heavy with pre-war vets Mel Ott, Van Lingle Mungo, Babe Young, Red Kress, Johnny Mize and Ernie Lombardi. While more than a handful of the team's young hopefuls jumped the team in spring training to play outlaw ball in Mexico. Others, like Dave Koslo who became a pitching mainstay of the great 1950's clubs, were gaining great on the job training from the old guys. Three of them (Ott, Mize and Lombardi) would be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The Spalding Frick ball has been signed in black ball point by those 3 Hall of Famers and 11 more Giants. The ball has a nice warm tone and the signatures are extremely clean and bold. A great Giants ball, representing the team's "changing of the guard" year in transition. Letter of Authenticity W56691 from JSA. LOA from PSA/DNA who graded the signatures an 8, and the baseball a 6 for an overall 7 grade.
