A signature play synonymous with Derek Jeter’s always hustling style, Oakland A’s fan don’t need to be reminded about the Yankees Captain’s awareness, positioning and incredible reaction time. Proving this when he fielded an errant cutoff throw from right fielder Shane Spencer and flipped the ball to catcher Jorge Posada in time to nab a lumbering Jeremy Giambi at the plate Right after A’s batter Terrrence Long ripped a line drive into the right field corner following Giambi’s two-out single. The Yankees held a precarious 1-0 lead at the time, which held up to be the final score when Mariano Rivera came on in the eighth and ninth innings to preserve Mike Mussina’s seven-inning, four-hit gem. This limited edition (97/500) 16” x 20” full color photo of the play is signed by Jeter in bold black sharpie on his own body, as he’s watching Posada apply the tag. It is matted in a 21” x 25” frame with a silver metal nameplate reading: Derek Jeter Game Three ALDS “Flip to Posada”.
