A remarkable collection of letters and signatures of 11 pitchers who gave up a home run during Roger Maris' 1961 season. Collected by one man over the course of several years, this collection not only contains the signatures but also many personal letters containing each pitchers thoughts on being part of baseball history. While most consider it an honor to have been a part of baseball history, some like Bob Shaw of the White Sox attribute Maris' success to Mickey Mantle hitting right behind him, and Ed Palmquist believed "he was just fed for the first 50" and wonders if "they" fed Babe Ruth the same way! A nice and personal look at the other side of a baseball's most hallowed record. Pitchers include: Marty Kutyna, Ed Palmquist, Jim Archer, Johnny Klippstein, Dave Sisler, Dick Donovan, Milt Pappas, Bob Shaw, Bill Monbouquette, Johnny James and Jerry Casale. The collection is contained in a binder of plastic sleeves containing the letters and signatures on a variety of different papers and materials. Some of the the pages are stuck inside the plastic sleeves and are unable to be taken out. Pre-Certification from PSA/DNA.
