Whether or not Pete Rose belongs in the baseball Hall of Fame because of his well-documented off-the-field actions remains open to debate, but what does not is if his on-field résumé is strong enough to land “Charlie Hustle” in Cooperstown. Owner of a career .303 batting average, Rose is Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader at 4,256. Rose signed this standard finish ash Louisville Slugger model S222 bat on the barrel on bold, blue sharpie. The knob of the bat boasts Rose’s number “14” in black sharpie along with “34,” the bat’s weight in ounces, written in pencil and a “S222” model stamp. The bat shows moderate signs of game use, including grain swelling and several ball impression and stitch marks particularly on the back side of the barrel. A host of green bat rack markings are visible at the top of the barrel, while a thin coating of pine tar is scattered about the handle. The signed, game-used Rose bat is PSA/DNA certified with verification numbers “1B08685” and “X52528.”
