Sugar Ray Leonard burst into the world spotlight as part of the 1976 USA Olympic boxing team, a team many consider to be one of the greatest boxing teams in the history of the Olympics. Leonard captured the Gold Medal by winning all of his fights by 5-0 decisions. This includes the championship bout where he defeated the great Cuban knockout artist Andrés Aldama, who scored five straight knockouts to reach the final. In his professional career, Leonard won world titles in five weight divisions and defeated boxing greats the likes of Wilfred Benítez, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Durán, and Marvin Hagler. Leonard’s achievements earned him the title of "Boxer of the Decade" for the 1980’s.

Offered here is a replica WBC Championship belt that was signed by Leonard. The belt features a center circle inclusive with the writing “WBC World Champion” and images of the world flags around the periphery. Also included are four images of former champions Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, and Mike Tyson. Leonard has boldly signed the green background of the belt in white with his name and the inscription “”HOF 97.” The autograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA (#6A34645).
