The "Easton Assassin" held the Heavyweight Championship for 7 years 3 months 12 days , successfully defending the title a remarkable 20 times. Holmes is widely regarded as having the best left jab in the history of the sport and is a member of the Boxing Hall of Fame. This lot brings together 5 fight worn and signed pieces from one of the greatest heavyweights of all-time. The red 10oz Cleto Reyes leather glove was worn during Holmes' March 8, 1994 fight against Garing Lane. Holmes won the 10 round fight by unanimous decision and this glove shows wear expected from a full pro bout. There is glue residue still visible near the opening and part of the manufacturer's label has come off when it was removed. The red leather shows wear around the thumb and lace area. The laces have been removed but the original weight tagging is still affixed. Holmes has signed the top of the glove in black marker noting "HOLMES vs LANE 3/8/94". Along with the glove are 2 pairs of fight worn Everlast high top white boxing shoes. One pair has been signed on both ankles by the champ in black marker with the inscription "H.W. Champ". The second pair features his signature on both ankles in black marker. Both pairs show good fight use with the expected scuffing and wear and the rubber, leather and nylon material has yellowed a bit with age. Letters of Authenticity from JSA.
