No coach revolutionized the game of football than Vince Lombardi. First as the genius who orchestrated the NY Giants offense that brought the team a World Championship. Then from 1958 as the man who brought greatness to Green Bay. Along the way he worked tirelessly to integrate the game and won 6 NFL Championships and the first two Super Bowls. When you think of the archetype pro football coach, the mind automatically pictures Lombardi. Standing stoically at on the sideline in his short-brimmed hat, trench coat and horn rimmed glasses; scribbling out another unstoppable play on his yellow legal pad. This lot brings together two of those Lombardi plays. More than a simple signature, these two hand written diagrams illustrate the mind of Football's first superstar coach. Dated to the late 1950's period, the two plays were drawn up in the heat of the moment, by the NFL legend in pencil on yellow legal paper as was his custom. One measures 3 3/4" x 8" and the other is 6 1/2" x 8". Normally these were balled up and tossed after a play was executed but these two were carefully folded and saved for posterity, a unique look into the strategic thinking of the game's most famous coach. Each has a letter of Authenticity (B10695 & B12586) from JSA.
