One of only six people mentioned to receive anything in Babe Ruth’s Last Will and Testament, Frank Delaney worked as caretaker for the Babe during the final year of Ruth’s life and in addition to being bequeathed the sum of five hundred dollars providing that he was still employed by the great Bambino at the time of his death, he was also given this personally signed 16” x 20” familiar black and white photo of the Babe following through on one of his patented home run swings. Ruth signed the photo in steel tip fountain pen with an inscription reading “To Frank Delaney my good friend and nurse, from Babe Ruth 1948.” Obviously among the last objects signed by Ruth prior to his death on August 16, 1948, the photo is attractively mounted in a gold stained frame and comes with JSA LOA certification #X80329, stating that the inscription was penned in the hand of the nurse.
