To watch “Pistol Pete” Maravich play basketball was a thing of beauty. Boston Celtics Hall of Famer John Havlicek called Maravich, “the best ball handler of all-time.” Best remembered as a high-scoring point guard and shooting guard for the New Orleans Jazz, from 1974-1980, Maravich was and remains the NCAA Division 1 all-time leading scorer with 3,667 points and an average of 44.2 points per game during his three years (1967-1970) at Louisiana State University, where he played for his father Petar “Press” Maravich and scored 50 points in his first game as a freshman.
Maravich signed this check #253 made out to Cash in the amount of $200 from Trust of Louisiana on October 15, 1984 a little more than three years before his untimely death from a heart attack at the age of 40 on January 5, 1988; encapsulate in PSA/DNA Authentic Auto slab #81997496.
