The first-ever draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976, defensive lineman Lee Roy Selmon rewarded the franchise by going on to produce a Hall of Fame career. Selmon registered 78 ½ sacks in his nine-year NFL career, all spent with Tampa Bay, and was elected to six Pro Bowl and three All-Pro teams. Selmon wore this 1976-80 era creamsicle Tampa Bay home jersey early in his career. Selmon’s number “63” appears on the front, back and both sleeves in red-on-white applique. “L. SELMON” appears across the top back of the jersey on an orange name plate in red-on-white applique. Selmon signed the jersey in bold, black sharpie on the back “6” of the jersey along with the inscriptions “#63” and “Bucs.” A “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag, size 50, is found on the front tail of the heavy mesh jersey. According to Mears, the jersey shows light to moderate evidence of game use with six team repairs present. Mears graded the jersey A6/10, noting “4 points were deducted for light wear and inconsistent presence of team repairs.” The game-used jersey comes with a Mears LOA and the signature is verified by a JSA LOA, certification number “X99594.”
