In the span of 10 years, the expansion New York Mets went from the laughing stocks of the sporting world to World Series Champions. Powered by the pitching of Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan and Jerry Koosman, the Amazin’ Mets swept aside Hank Aaron’s Atlanta Braves in the first NLCS and proceeded to surprise the nation by defeating the unstoppable Baltimore Orioles in five games. No other team in Mets history is as fondly remembered as this first championship squad and this 1969 Year Book features them all in their glory. The cover has been signed by XX members of that Amazin’ team: Tom Seaver (HoF), Yogi Berra (HoF), J.C. Martin, Jim McAndrew, Al Jackson, Duffy Dyer, Wayne Garrett, Ron Swoboda, Ed Kranepool, Ken Boswell, Gary Gentry, Al Weis, Don Cardwell, Donn Clendenon, Bud Harrelson, Joe Pignatano, Jerry Grote, Ron Taylor, Art Shamsky and Ed Charles, Tommy Agee, Ed Yost, Tug McGraw, Rod Gaspar and Jack DiLauro.
