Plenty of factors came into play when the right-handed magician Greg Maddux was enshrined as a member of the 2014 Hall of Fame class. The biggest was like Maddux’s longevity. The four-time Cy Young award winner became the first hurler to win at least 15 games in 17 straight seasons, and that includes 2004, the last year of that run and campaign in which he sported this Chicago Cubs button-down home jersey. Maddux signed the back of the jersey in bold, blue sharpie below his name and above his number “31,” both of which appear in blue-on-red tackle twill. A Cubs crest logo is stitched on the left chest of the jersey, with the iconic “walking bear” logo patch stitched on the left sleeve. The front tail of the jersey features a Majestic Authentic Collection manufacturer’s tag, size 46. A white strip tag on the inside collar reads “04 46 S1,” indicating the jersey’s year, size and set number. An interior tag marked in blue print with washing instructions reads number “0062.” The signed, game-used jersey is PSA/DNA authenticated (X52537) and has a Mears LOA, as well as an LOA from noted jersey expert Dave Miedema.
