Perhaps no season in recent baseball history was as exciting as 1998’s single-season home run race. All summer, St. Louis’ Mark McGwire, Seattle’s Ken Griffey Jr. and Chicago’s Sammy Sosa battled it out, each striving to break the most famous record in the game. Big Mac eventually emerged the victor, hitting the record breaking homer on September 8th and adding eight more by the time the season ended.
