Kirk Gibson had only one at-bat in the 1988 World Series between his Los Angeles Dodgers and the heavily favored Oakland A’s, but what an at-bat it was. Gibson’s two-run walk off blast of Hall of Fame reliever Dennis Eckersley with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game One at Los Angeles was one for the ages. It’s right up there with Bobby Thompson’s 1951 pennant clincher for the New York Giants and Joe Carter’s World Series walk off blast for the Blue Jays five years later. A gimpy Gibson got up off the trainer’s table and hit the most dramatic pinch-hit home run in Series history. He hobbled around the bases at his own painful pace in one of baseball’s most memorable highlight reel clips. This 8” x 10” color photo captures Gibson at the moment he realized he had hit the ball out of the park with his fist raised in the air as he prepares to make his way around the bases. Gibson signed the photo in Dodger Blue sharpie, matching the tone of his batting helmet. Gibson also signed the ticket stub to Game One (Aisle 15, Row S, Seat 6) of the Series at Dodger Stadium on October 15, 1988; which is matted below in the same 12” x 17” metallic metal frame. This comes with JSA LOA certification # X01473 authenticating the ticket stub and PSA/DNA COA #G 73044 authenticates the photograph.
