Over 80 years after his retirement as a player, Ty Cobb still holds several Major League records, a testament to his status as one of the all time greats. This framed, matted selection includes a 7x9” black-and-white posed photograph of the “Georgia Peach” at full extension, ball nestled in the palm of his nearly-microscopic glove. Interestingly, the uniform in the photo can be dated to 1921, as Cobb is wearing a black armband in memory of Ray Chapman, who passed at the end of the 1920 season. Also included is a cut autograph, signed in the more formal “Tyrus R. Cobb” as it is on a canceled check. The whole piece measures 12x13” plus wood frame, and includes JSA LOA.
Although listed originally as a cut, it appears that the signature is on a full check and has just been framed to look like a cut.
