This set of three presidential signatures includes; 31st President of the United States Herbert Hoover, 34th President Dwight Eisenhower and 41st President George H.W. Bush. Five years after the end of his one-term (1929-1933) presidency, Herbert Hoover visited 10 European countries in March of 1938 and was presented with an honorary doctorate of Technical Science degree from the Technical College of Vienna. Hoover’s signature in steel tip fountain pen ink is on the back of a 4 ¼” x 6 ½” invitation to attend the ceremony in his honor on March 3, 1938 printed in German on the front side of the card which comes with JSA LOA certification #Y03843. Eisenhower’s signature, or rather his initials “D.E.,” are in steel tip fountain pen ink at the bottom of a letter addressed to “Mr. James S. Copley, Copley Press Inc. 434 Downer Place Aurora, Illinois and typed on his own personal stationary containing “D D E” and “Gettysburg Pennsylvania 17325” in raised gold-leaf lettering across the top of the page. Dated October 20, 1966, the brief letter reads: “Dear Jim: Thank you for the special greetings on my birthday. I am always delighted to hear from my friends which I find is the most enjoyable part of passing another milestone. With personal regard and best wishes, Cordially, D.E.” The letter was written in response to a Western Union Telegram sent from Copley on October 14, 1966, Eisenhower’s 76th birthday. The original telegram is also included here and the two-piece package comes with JSA/LOA certification #Y28572. George H.W. Bush’s signature is in black felt tip marker at the bottom of a letter written on Vice Presidential stationary and dated December 16, 1985 to Mr. J. Knox McConnell President The First National Bank Post Office Drawer AA Keystone, West Virginia 24852 and reads: “Dear Knox: Thanks for the additional information on the Black Order of Elks. I’ve forwarded this information to my scheduling office, and they’ll be back in touch when the August schedule gets firmed up – it is still a little early for us to be thinking about next August. As always, it was great to hear from you. Sincerely, George Bush.” The letter is accompanied by its original George Bush 1200 Eighteenth Street N.W. Suite 300 Washington, D.C. 20036 stationary envelope and comes with JSA LOA certification # Y28573.
