On the first day of an era that what would come to be dubbed "Camelot," LIFE Magazine issued a special souvenir edition chronicling John F. Kennedy's 1961 presidential inauguration. This original copy of the "Inaugural Spectacle" magazine signed by Kennedy to Senator Joseph Clark: "For Mr. Joseph Clark - With my best wishes - John Kennedy." This is one of only two known examples of this Life magazine signed by JFK; and the only complete magazine. Displayed below the signed complete magazine is the souvenir issue's period center spread of the famous "Ask not..." inaugural speech. The immense significance is that Kennedy's autographed items pertaining to his most famous oration share have both high desirability and high value. Signed versions of the inaugural address have sold privately and at auction for five- and six-figure sums on the rare occasions that they have been made available to the collecting community. It is beautifully satin-matted and framed—along with a brass plate excerpt of JFK's immortal declaration, "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country"—to overall dimensions of 25-1/2" x 36". Included is a full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.
