No duo in Major League Baseball history can measure up to the dominance displayed by Yankees greats Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, particularly during their stretch of three World Series titles together from 1927-32. The Hall of Fame pair was side-by-side in the Bronx Bombers’ batting order for close to 10 seasons, a span in which they terrorized opposing pitchers. The Yankees legends each signed this OAL Ban Johnson baseball dating back to the 1926-27 edition in black ink, with Ruth’s signature appearing on the sweet spot and Gehrig’s immediately below. The creamy-toned baseball has maintained its manufacturer markings wonderfully for a nearly 90-year-old piece, with only a slight smudge on “American” on the ball’s central markings. Ruth’s signature is somewhat faded, though uninterrupted in flow and free of stains or markings. Gehrig’s signature is dark in tone and only slightly inhibited by scuff touching the bottom of “G” in Gehrig. This valuable piece of baseball history signed by two of the game’s most revered stars comes with a JSA LOA.
