The New York Yankees christened a new Yankee Stadium on Opening Day 2009 and concluded the season with the team’s 27th World Series championship.
After failing to reach the World Series for five consecutive seasons from 2004-2008, a drought of epic proportions considering the New York Yankees dynastic run of success from 1996 to 2003, the team signed veteran right-handed pitcher A.J. Burnett to a five-year $82.5 million deal. Burnett paid immediate dividends, never missing his turn in the rotation while compiling a 13-9 record with 195 strikeouts in 207 innings spanning 33 starts and earned his first World Series victory with a sterling performance against the Philadelphia Phillies in Game Two.

This is an additional player ring that was requested by Burnett.
