Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve enjoyed the finest season of his professional career in 2014, a year which saw the rising star post a .341 batting average and set a franchise record with 225 hits. Altuve, a two-time All-Star, boasts those achievements on this signed, game-used Tucci Lumber TL-238-LDMX model bat from a July 28 contest against the Oakland Athletics. The black pine tar-stained handle of the bat was cracked on a ground out in the bottom of the fifth inning against pitcher Jesse Chavez. Altuve signed the light wood barrel in bold, black sharpie below the inscriptions “Game Used,” “2014 All-Star Game,” “2014 AL Batting Champ,” “.341 Avg” and “225 Hits.” The bat’s model number and “JOSE ALTUVE” are engraved at the end of the barrel above “PRO SELECT LIMITED” and “06301486 33/31.3.” The knob of the bat features a Houston Astros logo with Altuve’s number “27.” The bat shows heavy signs of game use, including several baseball stitch impressions, and cleat and rack marks. The signed, game-used bat comes with certification from PSA/DNA (X48433) and the MLB Authentication program (HZ 327523).
