Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve passed one of the franchise’s all-time greats on Sept. 16, 2014 when he became the team’s single-season hits record holder at 211 with a seventh-inning single off Cleveland pitcher Corey Kluber. Altuve eclipsed soon-to-be Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, who spent 20 seasons playing for the Astros and set the original mark of 210 hits in 1998. Altuve signed this clear-finished maple Tucci Lumber TL-NS33-M model bat in bold, black sharpie below a three line inscription that reads “Game Used 2014,” “Hit # 211,” and “Passing Biggio.” The bat shows moderate signs of game use, including ball impressions and cleat marks on the barrel. The bat’s handle is littered with a small amount of residue for grip, while the knob boasts a Tucci Lumber manufacturer marking. The signed, game-used bat comes with certification from PSA/DNA (X48443) and the MLB Authentication program (HZ 372010).
