The seventh member of baseball’s 500-home-run club, Hall of fame third baseman Eddie Mathews teamed with Hank Aaron to form the most formidable 3-4 punch in the major leagues from 1954-1966. A nine time All-Star Mathews led the National League in home runs twice with 47 in 1953 and 46 in 1959, finishing his 17-year career with 512 long balls. Mathews used this 35-inch, 32-ounce natural finish Adirondack “Eddie Mathews Personal Model” bat some time during its 1961-1965 labeling period. Bat shows tremendous use with a dense concentration of ball marks, stitch-impressions, grain-swelling and a 6” long section of wood missing from the most heavily used part of the barrel. Model (79A) is stamped into the knob where Mathews’ number “41” is also written in black marker and again on the barrel end; comes with Mears Letter of Opinion grading A9.
