This Civil War relic is an actual cannon ball discovered at the historic site of the Civil War battle known as the Siege of Vicksburg. The 3” diameter forged metal ball weighing nearly 4 pounds is exactly as described in historic Civil War tables of Artillery Projectiles. Vicksburg, Mississippi was under siege for 40 days by General Ulysses S. Grant. After learning of the Confederate defeat at Gettysburg, Vicksburg ultimately surrendered on July 4, 1863. Displayed in an attractive case labeled “Battle of Vicksburg July 4, 1863,”this cannon ball is an outstanding relic from this important era in American history.
