This 2008 invitation was issued by the Augusta National Golf Club Board of Governor’s Chairman William Porter Payne. Notably, the Masters has the smallest field of the major championships, with 94 players earning invitations in 2008. The invitation itself, set on a yellow card with the familiar Master’s logo on the top, states “The Board of Governor’s of the Augusta National Golf Club cordially invites you to participate in the Two Thousand and Eight Master’s Tournament to be held at Augusta, Georgia the tenth, eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth of April.” R.S.V.P. is also requested. At the event, the 72nd Masters Tournament in history, Trevor Immelman won his only major title, three strokes ahead of four-time Master’s champion and runner-up Tiger Woods.
