On February 27, 2012 Danica Patrick made auto racing history when she became the first female to race in the 2012 Daytona 500. This extraordinary piece of colorful sheet metal was removed from Patrick’s famous number 10 Go-Daddy car after being involved in an accident during the 2nd lap of the ‘12 Daytona 500. This fender shows some of the damage suffered by her car and displays all but one of the original sponsor decals evidenced on the car at the beginning of the race. A piece of tape affixed to the fender identifies this historic racing artifact “Daytona 500 Feb 27, 2012 #10.” The same notation is written on the back of the fender in black sharpie. Following repairs being made to her car, Patrick re-entered the Daytona 500 in later laps and finished the race in the 29th position. Patrick continues to make racing history with her participation in the 2013 Daytona 500. Patrick was the fastest pole qualifier to qualify since 1990 for the 2013 Daytona 500, becoming the first female NASCAR driver to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole position. Patrick also became the first female driver in history to lead a green flag lap at the Daytona 500, taking the lead on lap 90 during this race. The historic piece of metal from Patrick’s NASCAR Sprint Cup debut impressively measures 31” x 34” and will only appreciate as Patrick continues to make advances in NASCAR racing history. Comes with Gotta Have It LOA.
