No other rock and roll musician has left a bigger imprint on music history in so short a period as Buddy Holly. In a brief 18 month period from the May 1957 release of “That’ll Be the Day” to his tragic death in February 1959, Holly blazed a trail of music innovation that still resonates today. It’s amazing to think for all he accomplished, Holly was just three years out of high school when he died and perhaps no other piece of Holly memorabilia brings that home than this original copy of The Westerner," the 1953 Lubbock High School yearbook. The teenage Holly has signed this classmate’s copy twice; the first with "-Morris- Here's hoping you'll have the best of luck in the years to come. Buddy Holley," in brown fountain pen. Sophomore Holly (or Holley, as he originally spelled his name) has also vintage signed his name a second time within the book, over his image in brown fountain pen. Signed Buddy Holly items are of course scarce and much-sought after – this yearbook from his beloved home town of Lubbock is certainly one of the most desirable. Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
