This is an historic baseball game ticket stub from the game in which New York Yankee slugger Mickey Mantle established the then major league record for hitting home runs from both sides of the plate in a single game. In this game played against the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium on August 12, 1964 Mantle hit 2 homeruns (Home Runs # 443 and # 444); one from each side of home plate for the record 10th time in his fabled career. Hitting a home run from either side of the plate in a single game is a formidable achievement reached by fewer than a hundred players in the history of major league baseball. As a switch hitter, Mantle is recognized by historians as one of the best to ever play the game. His ability to hit from either the right or left side of home plate meant opposing pitchers and coaches had to work twice as hard when facing him and besides contributing to his personal success as a player most certainly contributed to the winning record of the great Yankee teams which he played on. Comes with a Gotta Have It certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
