This is the actual 1999 US Open Championship entry application submitted to the United States Golf Association by that year’s tournament winner and popular championship golfer, Payne Stewart. Months after winning this major, Stewart perished in a tragic airplane mishap at the age of 42. Stewart, who was very popular with fans, was noted for his “throwback" attire and was the winner of three Majors (1999 PGA Championship, 1991 & 1999 US Open), member of five U.S. Ryder Cup teams plus three US World Cup teams. Stewart has signed and dated this application that he filled in with his name, address, and checked for his qualifying exempt status. The application is stamp dated and numbered for receipt by the USGA. Beautifully framed together with several artifacts from Pinehurst, North Carolina and the 1999 US Open and five 8x10 color celebratory photographs of Payne Stewart. This museum-worthy display measures an impressive 34” x 42”. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
