This is an outstanding original quitclaim document dated 1426 written during the reign of King Henry VI (1421-1471) in quill ink on 5” x 12” parchment with the original wax seal. Beautifully framed to 19” x 23” with a descriptive plaque that provides the details of this rare document, written in Latin as follows: “By William Chevele to Ralph Farwell, John Kyrkeby De Asshele" (Ashley, South East of Newmarket) and William Farwell of "Novo Mercato" (Newmarket), of all right and title in two acres of arable land in the fields of Ashley - "Three roads in the field called Wykham, adjoining land of St. John, land of John Horn son of Thomas Horn (West), the road from Cheveley towards ‘Asshe’ (Ashley), and the field called Brechefeld, five roads in Crouchefeld called Belleakyr, adjoining land of St. John and land of Robert Jeppe." Dated Ashley, 19 December, 1426.” Quitclaims helped to secure transactions and in the medieval period they could sometimes be used on their own to convey land. Comes with Gotta Have It LOA.
