Offered is an extremely rare piece of American history linked to arguably the United States of America’s most influential and revered President. This 3x7 1/2-inch Abraham Lincoln presidential ticket dates back to 1864, when the man responsible for bringing an end to slavery won a second term as the country’s leader. The ticket, from Lake County, Ohio, reads “Election November 8, 1864” above an image of a woman in a “LIBERTY” helmet wielding a “UNION” sword. The center of the ticket reads “For President, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, of ILLINOIS. For Vice President, ANDREW JOHNSON, OF TENNESSEE.” Below is a printed list of 21 electors. The 150-year-old ticket features two small holes on the image of the woman and shows history of several horizontal creases from where it was once folded. The edges of the paper ticket mostly show light signs of distress, though the bottom of the piece boasts heavy wear. All in all, this iconic item from Lincoln’s presidency has withstood the test of time and would make for a wonderful addition to any historical collection.
