Offered is a rare glimpse into the past of highly-regarded President Dwight D. Eisenhower from before he first took office in 1953. In this typed letter, dated β7 October 1947,β Eisenhower is writing to James S. Alexander, Vice President of the Guaranty Trust Company of New York, to thank him for an invitation to open a bank account. Eisenhower signed the letter, on 7x10-inch paper, in black fountain ink. The top of the letter features a raised βDDEβ letterhead in gold print below five red stars. The bottom left corner of the letter has been initialed in pencil by an unidentified subject --- possibly Alexander. The back of the letter, which has two horizontal crease lines from folding, features two purple stamp markings. The letter remains in strong condition outside of two brown spots to the right of the text and a couple ink markings, including one that appears to be a fingerprint. The signed Eisenhower letter comes with a JSA LOA.
