What appears to be a life-size cardboard standee of former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is a store display to promote Starr’s release of his 1981 album, “Stop and Smell the Roses,” his eighth studio album. The album included his hit single, “Wrack My Brain,” written and produced by Beatles band mate George Harrison in addition to contributions from Paul McCartney. Dressed as a police officer with his hand held up offering an instruction to STOP, one cannot help but stop when encountering this visually striking display. Born Richard Starkey, Ringo became his stage name even before joining the Beatles in 1962. Since The Beatles, Starr has appeared in numerous films and has enjoyed a successful musical career that has included tours with versions of his “All-Starr Band” for more than two decades.
